Start > Objective
GEFINAID will provide assistance based on 4 pillars:
1
Humanitarian aid:
We focus here on people in need of critical assistance (internal refugees, victims of the Boko-haram terrorist attacks as well as victims of the North West and South West crisis).
2
Education:
Education of youth and women is an obvious problem in Cameroon. Our objective in this branch of GEFINAID will be to increase the percentage of young people in school in Cameroon and to promote the empowerment of women.
3
Agriculture and environment:
Agriculture is supposed to be one of the strongest pillars of Cameroonian economy.
However, climate change and poverty have slowed its development. We promote
agricultural projects and propose solutions to adapt to a changing climate.
4
Entrepreneurship:
In this branch of aid, we will encourage entrepreneurship, and fund excellent start-up projects that can boost the Cameroonian economy at all levels.
Objectives
To achieve its goal of effectively supporting people in need of humanitarian assistance in Cameroon and to give a substantial boost to the country's development prospects, GEFINAID's objective is to focus mainly on two groups of people: young people and women.
Cameroon has a young population with a median age of 18.7 years. 41.25% of the Cameroonian population is between zero and 14 years old (Brass 2015). This means that having young people as a target covers a considerable part of the Cameroonian population. Moreover, in terms of vulnerability, whether in humanitarian crises or in conditions of extreme poverty, young people are always a very sensitive group. With regard to women, they constitute more than half of the Cameroonian population (50.1%) and are also a very vulnerable group suffering from social, educational, political and professional discrimination (Fokum et al. 2020).
The support and development of women and youth in Cameroon could therefore give a substantial boost to the country's development prospects.
